Electric Box Cab Motor Renumbering
Several box cab motors wore two, three or, in some instances as many as seven different road numbers prior to retirement; the following list identifies those electric motors with more than two road numbers. It is based on a compiliation by Andre Kristopan. Orig. Nmbr > > Renumbering

Technical notes
Milw Road purchased 42 two-unit sets from GE. Classified as EF-1s, the
electric motors were initially semi-permanently coupled, and operated in two, three and
four-unit sets. "A" and "B" motors were deemed the control locos, while "C" and "D" employed
as boosters.
Twelve boxcabs were reduced in length by 14 feet; these "Bob-tail" units included: E25C, E25D, E30C, E30D, E33C, E34C, E34D, E35C and E52C, plus three others. Reference Sources:
